Congratulations to our spring state championship teams: Elkhorn High School baseball and Elkhorn South girls tennis. The ESHS boys soccer and the EHS boys track teams also had a notable finishes, securing runner-up titles at State.

The list recognizes schools that have high levels of participation in rigorous coursework. Nationally, less than 11 percent of approximately 22,000 U.S. public high schools met the requirements to be ranked on the list.

The Elkhorn High School drama department will present “You Can’t Take it With You” on Friday, May 6 at 7 p.m. and again on Saturday, May 7 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the door, $6 for adults and $4 for children.

On March 5, the Storm Girls Basketball team defeated Waverly to take home the school’s first State Title in Girls basketball and the school’s third state championship this school year.

Congratulations to the Elkhorn South cheer and dance teams on their Class B State Titles. ESHS Cheer took home First Place in Tumbling and earned a Runner-up title in Sideline. The ESHS Dance team won the Class B Title in Hip Hop and earned second place in the jazz category. Choose “Read More” to see photos.

Governor Pete Ricketts visited West Bay third, fourth and fifth graders on February 25 as a guest reader. Governor Ricketts read “The Dragons are Singing Tonight” by Jack Prelutsky. He stressed the importance of a good education and encouraged students to keep reading. Ricketts also told students Nebraska would celebrate its 150th anniversary next year or sesquicentennial.

This year EPS is rolling out Google Apps for Education, one component of this is Google Drive. Google Drive provides online file storage so teachers can share documents and homework assignments with students. It extends the classroom learning environment by providing free word processing, spreadsheet and presentation tools that can be accessed at school and home. The EHS Vocal Music Department will present “Tarzan” November 5-8. This family-friendly musical is based on the 1999 Disney film and includes a cast, crew, orchestra and creative team of 100 EHS students. A special dinner will be held between shows on Saturday, November 7. For show times, tickets and dinner information, choose “Read More.”
