Policy 203.07
Advisory or Ad Hoc Board Committees
Advisory committees shall represent a liaison between the community and the board. The main function of an advisory committee is to report and make a recommendation to the board concerning a specific, designated issue.
An advisory committee is formed by board resolution that shall outline the duties and purpose of the committee. The committee is advisory in nature and has no duty or responsibility other than that specifically stated in the board resolution. The committee shall automatically dissolve upon the delivery of its final recommendation to the board or upon completion of the duties outlined in the board resolution. The board will receive the report of the committee for consideration.
The board retains the authority to make a final decision on the issue. The committee will conduct its meetings as open meetings and a record of committee members present will be kept. The board president may designate a chairperson and may also designate a specific board member and administrator to serve on an advisory committee.
