Policy 205.01
Policy Development
The board has jurisdiction to determine the policies that will govern the operations of the school district with the force and effect of law. The board explains values, purposes and ends to be sought by means of adopted policies.
The written adopted policy statements shall be maintained in an official district policy manual. Policies provide guidelines and goals to the citizens, administration, employees and students in the school district community. The policy statements shall be the basis for the formulation of regulations by the administration.
Policy statements may be proposed by a board member, administrator, employee, student, members of the school district community, a civic group, the Nebraska Department of Education, state or federal law. Proposed policy statements or ideas shall be submitted to the superintendent’s office for possible placement on the board agenda. It shall be the responsibility of the superintendent to bring these proposals to the attention of the board and to assist the board in policy development.
