Administrative Rules and Procedures to Implement Policy 302.05
Superintendent Appraisal
It shall be the intention of the Board to complete the appraisal of the Superintendent December 15. The appraisal of the Superintendent will be on the agenda of the regular November Board meeting. The purpose of this timeline is to assure that the Superintendent will be appraised by the sitting Board rather than a newly elected Board following elections.
The formal appraisal will be based on the following principles:
- The appraisal criteria shall be in writing, job-related, clearly stated and mutually agreed upon by the board and the superintendent.
- Each board member shall have an opportunity to individually appraise the superintendent, and these individual appraisals will be compiled into an overall appraisal by the board president.
- The board as a whole shall discuss its appraisal with the superintendent and the superintendent shall use the appraisal as a basis for professional goals and other goals established by the board.
- A copy of the written compilation of the board’s appraisal of the superintendent will be placed in the superintendent’s personnel file.
- This appraisal process does not preclude the ongoing, informal evaluation of the superintendent’s skills, abilities and competence.
