Accidents, Injuries and Illness
Students who become ill or injured at school are sent home after parents/guardians are notified. Each building should keep a file of emergency numbers to be used in the event of accidents, injuries or sudden illness at school and parents/guardians cannot be reached.
In the case of a serious accident at school, emergency first aid will be administered and the local rescue squad called, if deemed necessary. Parents/guardians will be notified. Emergency numbers will be used if unable to reach the parent/guardian.
Students who have temporary or long term physical limitations or conditions, i.e., broken limbs, cardiac conditions, etc., will be encouraged to participate in all school activities when possible. Participation in extracurricular activities will be considered on an individual basis.
A physician’s formal approval for participation in such activities may be required at any time.
