A guest speaker, a secret message, and a “Science, YEAH!” motto were each part of the lesson as 5th grade students at Skyline Elementary discussed mixtures and solutions during their science lessons recently.
The guest speaker was Mr. Fauss, a science teacher at Elkhorn South High School, and the secret message was an experiment that students worked through using the concept of acids and bases. Mr. Fauss guided had students write a secret message on a sheet of paper with a clear indicator then spray it with a base, in this case glass cleaner, which turned the writing pink and shared the message with classmates!
Throughout the lessons, students could be heard sharing the motto for the lesson, “Science, YEAH!”, an indicator that something pretty cool was happening!
