Jackie Halsey, 7th grade science teacher at Elkhorn Valley View Middle School, was recently accepted into the Honeywell Educators Space Academy (HESA), a 5-day professional development program held at the U.S. Space Camp located in Huntsville, Ala. By participating, Halsey joins over 2,500 educators from 55 countries and 52 U.S. states and territories who have completed the training since its founding in 2004.
HESA, a partnership program between Honeywell Solutions and the U.S. Space & Rocket Center (USSRC), provides math and science teachers the opportunity to learn about space and science at a premier space learning center. During the program, attendees learn lessons and receive ideas and materials intended to better assist them in creating an unforgettable learning experience for their students. Teachers also participate in simulated astronaut training and other activities designed to promote life-long learning and intensive classroom, laboratory, and training time, focusing on space science and exploration.
