Third grade students at West Dodge Station elementary recently finished their Geometry unit where they learned about lines, points, congruent shapes, and polygons. Upon completion of their lessons, they reviewed the concepts by creating geometric stained glass artwork which was then displayed in the front windows of the school. To create their project, students used tangram shapes to first trace their geometric design focusing on symmetry, then used black glue on transparency film to outline the design and finished them by painting with tempera paint.
Mrs. Edick, a 3rd grade teacher at West Dodge Station, states that students love this project and look forward to it “because it’s a hands-on way to review a concept that also gives them an opportunity to let their creativity fly!”
