Minutes of Board of Education Regular Meeting
July 6, 2026
The Regular Monthly Meeting of the Elkhorn Public Schools Board of Education was called to order at 6:30 PM. Members present: A. Parks, J. Shatel, N. Rogic-Greufe, S. Ringenberg, and M. Wortman. R. Vokt was absent. President A. Parks noted that the meeting was governed by the Open Meetings Act, a copy of which is posted in the Board Room of the District Office. Advance notice of the Board meeting was published in the Omaha World Herald on June 30, 2026.
The meeting began with offering public comment. During the “Good News Report,” M. Wortman recognized that incoming ERMS 6th grader Skylar Hinkle celebrated her summer birthday with a special request – make a difference for NICU families by asking for books to donate instead of gifts! Skylar’s request was fulfilled, and she was able to donate 240 books! Special thank you to Skylar for being a positive light in our community! After submitting an essay about youth mental health to the National Civics Bee, Xi (Cindy) Lin, an incoming ESHS freshman, was selected to present her essay at the regional competition. After a top finish, Cindy moved on to the state competition, where she participated in two rounds of Civics questions and pitched her ideas for improving youth mental health. At the conclusion, Cindy was named the second place finisher in Nebraska! Congratulations, Cindy, on this academic achievement, and thank you for representing EPS! Congratulations to Will Berryman, Emerson Depew, Carson Deprez, Stephen Fisher, Jinyee Huang, Thanishka Inti, Rhana Kang, Mason Mercer, Alexander Morrison, Sam Stracke, and Jonathan Wiesenfeld, all members of the EPS Class of 2026 who were recognized for having earned a perfect score of 36 on the ACT! Notably, 7 of the above-listed students represented ESHS, marking it as the school with the most students with a perfect score in the state of Nebraska! ESHS junior Markus Gorup was selected as one of 24 members of Team Nebraska in the Stinger High School National Championship baseball tournament, which took place over the weekend. Congratulations to Markus on this athletic accomplishment! Recently announced NSAA “Buckle Up, Phone Down” Cup Standings for the 2025-26 school year named Elkhorn North High School as the Class B division winner in All-School, Girls, and Boys divisions. This award program recognizes Nebraska’s most successful high school athletic and fine arts programs. Congratulations to all ENHS students, coaches, and sponsors on this achievement!
It was moved by M. Wortman and seconded by N. Rogic-Greufe to approve the Consent Agenda items including: approval of agenda, approval of minutes for Monday, June 8, 2026, approval of Exchange Students, and approval of July bills for payment as presented.

It was moved by N. Rogic-Greufe and seconded by S. Ringenberg to approve the appointments of Allison Abraham and Carissa Gronenthal for the 2026-27 school year.

It was moved by M. Wortman and seconded by J. Shatel to approve the updated policies, rules and/or procedures for the following: Policy 706.03 – Bids and Contracts; Policy 502.03 – Option Enrollment; Administrative Rules and Procedures to Implement Policy 504.02 – Conduct and Discipline Code; Policy 503.02 – Attendance; Policy 502.11 – Extra Curricular Activities.
NO VOTE: CARRY-OVER MOTION
It was moved by N. Rogic-Greufe and seconded by S. Ringenberg to approve the NSAA Cooperative Program Renewal Agreement between all three Elkhorn high schools in Swimming, Diving and Girls Wrestling for the 2026-27 through 2027-28 school years.

It was moved by N. Rogic-Greufe and seconded by J. Shatel to adopt the presented Resolution to find and determine that the training requirements set forth in State statutes are reasonable in length.

It was moved by S. Ringenberg and seconded by N. Rogic-Greufe to approve early graduation requests as recommended by the high school principal from Elkhorn North, Elkhorn South, and Elkhorn High School.

The Board adjourned the meeting at 7:11 PM. The next Regular Monthly Meeting of the Board is scheduled for Monday, August 10, 2026, at 6:30 PM, in the Board Room at the District Office, 20650 Glenn Street, Elkhorn, NE 68022.
