The Regular Monthly Meeting of the Elkhorn Public Schools Board of Education was called to order at 6:30 PM. Members present: A. Parks, J. Shatel, N. Rogic-Greufe, S. Ringenberg, and M. Wortman. R. Vokt was absent. President A. Parks noted that the meeting was governed by the Open Meetings Act, a copy of which is posted in the Board Room of the District Office. Advance notice of the Board meeting was published in the Omaha World Herald on June 2, 2026.
The meeting began with public comment. During the “Good News Report,” J. Shatel recognized ENHS student Niharika Kandari and ESHS student Camden Parks were among 50 students from across the country recently selected as members of the 2026-27 National Council for Hope Squad. As members of the National Council, Niharika and Camden will represent and connect Hope Squad members across the country while advocating for suicide prevention and promoting mental health awareness. Congratulations to both and thank you for representing EPS! While representing Nebraska at the Regeneron International Science & Engineering Fair, a competition involving students from over 70 countries, ESHS student Athreya Reddy earned 4th place in the Biomedical and Health Sciences category. Congratulations to Athreya on this academic achievement! ENHS teacher Melissa Peterson was recently named the Outstanding Teacher of American History by the Omaha Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution! Congratulations to Mrs. Peterson on this recognition, and thank you for sharing your talents with the students of ENHS! Congratulations to EPS Class of 2026 graduates Carson Deprez, Yuridia Hernandez-Tapia, Rhana Kang, Alex Morrison, Gage Petrick, Johnathan Wu, and Erica Zhang, who were recently named part of the Omaha World-Herald’s 2026 All Metro Academic Team!
It was moved by M. Wortman and seconded by N. Rogic-Greufe to approve the Consent Agenda items, including: approval of agenda, approval of minutes for Monday, May 11, 2026, and approval of June bills for payment as presented.

It was moved by N. Rogic-Greufe and seconded by J. Shatel to approve the appointment of Brody Eggers and Lana Loera for the 2026-27 school year.

It was moved by S. Ringenberg and seconded by J. Shatel to approve a $0.10 increase in breakfast at all levels and a $0.10 increase in lunch prices at the elementary level. Meal prices are as follows for the 2026-27 school year: elementary – $1.95/$3.15; middle school – $2.15/$3.70; and high school – $2.30/$3.90. Milk prices remain at $0.55 per carton as recommended by Sodexo and the Nebraska Department of Education.

It was moved by M. Wortman and seconded by S. Ringenberg to approve parent pay bus rates as recommended by the administration for the 2026-27 school year.

It was moved by N. Rogic-Greufe and seconded by J. Shatel to approve the proposed Superintendent Contract with Superintendent Bary Habrock, effective July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, as recommended by the Negotiations Committee.

It was moved by S. Ringenberg and seconded by M. Wortman to name Dr. Don Pechous as the Superintendent-Elect for the 2026-27 school year in anticipation to be superintendent effective July 1, 2027.

The Board adjourned the meeting at 7:03 PM. The next Regular Monthly Meeting of the Board is scheduled for Monday, July 6, 2026, at 6:30 PM, in the Board Room at the District Office, 20650 Glenn Street, Elkhorn, NE 68022.
