Minutes of Board of Education Regular Meeting
August 10, 2026
The Regular Monthly Meeting of the Elkhorn Public Schools Board of Education was called to order at 6:30 PM. Members present: A. Parks, J. Shatel, S. Ringenberg, R. Vokt, and M. Wortman. N. Rogic-Greufe was absent. President A. Parks noted that the meeting was governed by the Open Meetings Act, a copy of which is posted in the Board Room of the District Office. Advance notice of the Board meeting was published in the Omaha World Herald on August 4, 2026.
The meeting began with offering public comment. During the “Good News Report,” S. Ringenberg recognized ESHS senior Camden Parks was named one of 60 student-members of the inaugural Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council. As part of their service, students will meet with Mayor Ewing monthly to brainstorm ideas and discuss issues important to our community’s youth. Congratulations, Camden, and thank you for representing EPS! As part of their School Recognition Awards program, College Board recognizes 10th and 11th grade students for exceptional academic achievement, as defined by PSAT score, cumulative GPA, and AP test scores. As such, 49 EPS students were among those recognized with College Board School Recognition Awards. Congratulations to all whose dedication to academic excellence is showcased by this honor! AP Scholars from the 2025-26 school year were recently announced, naming 251 EPS students as “AP Scholars” for receiving scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams, 145 EPS students as “AP Scholar with Honors” for receiving an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams, and 248 EPS students as “AP Scholar with Distinction” for receiving an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. Congratulations to all students who earned these academic recognitions, and to all EPS staff members whose work to build foundational educational experiences is showcased by these honors! ESHS tennis coach Steve Bischof was recently named the National Coach of the Year by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association! Congratulations, Coach Bischof, and thank you for your continued commitment to the success of EPS student-athletes! Best wishes to all EPS students and staff as they kick off the 2026-27 school year next week! We’re looking forward to another great year of excellence in all facets of education!
It was moved by M. Wortman and seconded by J. Shatel to approve the Consent Agenda items including: approval of agenda, approval of minutes for Monday, July 6, 2026, and approval of August bills for payment as presented.

It was moved by M. Wortman and seconded by J. Shatel to approve the updated policies, rules and/or procedures for the following: Policy 706.03 – Bids and Contracts; Policy 502.03 – Option Enrollment; Administrative Rules and Procedures to Implement Policy 504.02 – Conduct and Discipline Code; Policy 503.02 – Attendance; Policy 502.11 – Extracurricular Activities.

The Board heard presentations on Elementary Reading and Budget Planning.
The Board adjourned the meeting at 7:17 PM. The next Regular Monthly Meeting of the Board is scheduled for Monday, September 14, 2026, at 6:30 PM, in the Board Room at the District Office, 20650 Glenn Street, Elkhorn, NE 68022.
