It is the mission of Elkhorn Ridge Middle School to:
- Provide a safe learning environment that nurtures, challenges and encourages each student to reach his or her full learning potential.
- Create an educational program teaching to the needs and characteristics of early adolescents.
- Work collaboratively with students, families, school district personnel, and the community in equipping students with the necessary skills to become productive and responsible citizens.
ERMS SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT GOAL: All students will meet or exceed their RIT score on MAP in all four subject areas within the school year.
Welcome to Elkhorn Ridge Middle School. It is our commitment as a staff that each student who enters our building will receive a high level of education that will prepare them for success as they move on to high school and later in life. We are understanding of the unique needs that are present throughout the middle-grade years of our students, and our school culture is built on doing what is necessary to help our students be as successful as they can be.
Our students are offered a core curriculum consisting of the following: reading, math, science, language arts, and history. Our staff has high expectations for our students, and continual support and progress monitoring takes place to help ensure that all students are meeting expectations. Support and different levels of interventions are relied upon to ensure that we are meeting the individual needs of each student in our building. Students also have a range of exploratory classes in their schedule including industrial technology, art, family consumer science, vocal music, instrumental music, speech and drama, and world languages. These courses take place on a rotation or elective basis.
Students at ERMS also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities. Some of the activities that students are offered include jazz band, show choir, computer club, student council, yearbook, running club, academic competitions, volleyball, football, basketball, wrestling, and track.
At ERMS, it is our purpose to work together as a staff to help every student in our building to be successful. We believe that building relationships and gaining trust are a key piece in helping our students be successful. Our knowledgeable staff is continually working together in a collaborative effort to help each of our students be successful both where they are presently and where they will be in the future.
